Meeting Your Unique Needs
In addition to the regular volunteer blood program, Central Jersey Blood Center provides more specific services to help meet the special needs and requests of patients undergoing surgery and other medical treatments.
Autologous Blood Program
The Autologous Blood Program allows a patient scheduled for surgery to donate and receive their own blood. Please call the Patient Services Coordinator at Central Jersey Blood Center to set up an appointment for your autologous blood donations. The direct line is 732.842.1570
Important Information About Autologous Donation:
- The Blood Center's Surgeon's Request Form is required. Discuss the option for autologous donation with your physician and ask him or her to complete the Physician Request Form. Fax completed form to 732-842-1617
- You must use the EXACT name you will be using at the hospital (including a middle initial)
- You must bring ID with signature each time you donate.
- Please eat a good low fat meal within 4 hours of donating.
- Your accurate Social Security Number is required at the time of donation.
- Appointments must be made 7-10 days in advance of the expected date of surgery to allow time for processing.
- Please call Patient Services at 732.842.1570 to make appointments for donation.
Directed Blood Program
The Directed Blood Program enables a patient to select their own blood donors from family or friends.

Fees
Directed blood donations are special donations that require special handling. Specific fees will be charged to the patient to cover the cost of this special handling. The fees will be discussed with the patient or family member upon contact with Central Jersey Blood Center and are exclusive of all hospital processing fees.
